#5 What I did on Deepavali?
Deepavali, or also known as Diwali, is a festival of lights celebrated by those of Hindu faith. It is one of the most important festivals of the year for the Hindus who celebrate by performing traditional customs at homes. For a non-Hindus like me, I get to spend this day as an official holiday in Malaysia. Just like most major celebrations by other communities, Deepavali is a time for family reunions. Since I am currently studying alone here, I spent this day hanging out with my college friends and just having a fun and relaxing day.
After I woke up in the morning, I used a few hours to clean up my rooms first before going out. I decided to clean for a bit because I rarely have the time to clean up the mess in my room because of busy schedules such as going to class and doing assignments and all that. And after back home, I feel tired so I really don't feel like cleaning or anything related to that. So yes, I did clean up the room and after that, I was preparing to go out with my friends.
We basically did what an average students will do on an one day holiday, we went out for lunch in a shopping mall and walked around for a bit. Today was different in the shopping mall because obviously is the day of Deepavali, so the crowd was ridiculously insane. We literally had to bump with the people as we were walking and I honestly hated this situation. But despite that, we had a really fun time and laughed a lot.
Other than that, we get to see a lot of decorations for the festival and I was amazed by all of them. It was truly beautiful and I also took some pictures of them. Actually the night before Deepavali, there was some fireworks displays outside the room of where I am staying. Thus, I am beyond lucky to see it without having to step outside the house. On the other hand, we also saw some really nice aromatic candles and colorful Rangoli artworks which is the patterns created on the floor using colored rice or powder. Moreover, there was a few events that were going on at that time but I did not participate in any of them, unfortunately. But it was fun watching people who participated.
After circling around the shopping mall for nearly seven hours, we decided to go home and rest for tomorrow. This day has been fun for me as well as my friends and I hope there is more to day like this in the future.
Thanks for sharing. You can write well.
